Daphnis

Daphnis was discovered by the Cassini spacecraft in 2005 and named after a Greek god associated with nature. With an estimated diameter of around 8 kilometers, Daphnis possesses an irregular ellipsoidal shape likely influenced by its gravitational interactions with Saturn's rings. Its orbit within the Keeler Gap of Saturn's A Ring designates it as a "shepherd moon," dynamically sculpting its surroundings. Through its gravitational pull, Daphnis generates distinctive features like waves at the A Ring's edges and a ridge along the gap's inner edge, known as the "Daphnis Wavetrain." Cassini's observations provided valuable insights into Daphnis' interactions with ring material, including the creation of moonlet-like clumps.
