Lysithea

Lysithea

Lysithea is one of Jupiter's irregular moons, discovered in 1938 by American astronomer Seth Barnes Nicholson. It is part of the group of Jovian moons known as the "Himalia Group," which includes other irregular moons with similar orbital characteristics. Lysithea has an estimated diameter of about 36 kilometers (22 miles) and follows an eccentric and inclined orbit around Jupiter. Due to its small size and distant orbit, limited information is available about Lysithea's physical characteristics and surface features. Its irregular shape and relatively faint appearance in telescopic observations have made detailed study challenging. However, its membership in the Himalia Group suggests that it might share common origins with other irregular moons.
