Dia

Dia

Dia is a small irregular moon of Jupiter, discovered in 2000 by American astronomer Scott S. Sheppard. With an estimated diameter of about 4 kilometers (2.5 miles), Dia follows a distant and highly eccentric orbit around Jupiter. Little is known about its physical characteristics, composition, or surface features due to its small size and distance from Earth. Dia’s irregular shape and orbital behavior align it with the group of Himalia moons associated with Jupiter, potentially suggesting a common origin through collisions or captured asteroids.
