Asteroid 29 Amphitrite, discovered on March 1, 1854, by the English astronomer Albert Marth, is a significant member of the asteroid belt located between Mars and Jupiter. Named after Amphitrite, the sea goddess and wife of Poseidon in Greek mythology, this asteroid possesses an estimated diameter of approximately 204 kilometers (127 miles). Amphitrite follows an orbit around the Sun at an average distance of about 383 million kilometers (238 million miles), completing its orbit in approximately 5.3 Earth years.
