2867 Šteins
Asteroid 2867 Šteins is a small asteroid located in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Discovered on September 4, 1969, by Swiss astronomer Paul Wild, Šteins measures approximately 5.3 kilometers (3.3 miles) in diameter. This irregularly shaped asteroid orbits the Sun at an average distance of about 370 million kilometers (230 million miles) and completes one orbit roughly every 4.6 Earth years. The European Space Agency's Rosetta spacecraft encountered Šteins on September 5, 2008. Rosetta's flyby provided high-resolution images and data of Šteins, revealing its diamond-shaped appearance and numerous impact craters.
