Ursa Major I

Ursa Major I is an ultra-faint dwarf spheroidal galaxy situated in the Ursa Major constellation. Discovered in 2006 by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), this satellite galaxy is located at around 97,000 light-years from Earth. With an estimated half-light radius of approximately 160 parsecs, Ursa Major I possesses a sparsely populated stellar population mainly composed of old and metal-poor stars. Its luminosity is relatively faint, with an absolute magnitude of around -5.8. Due to its remote location and low luminosity, Ursa Major I serves as an essential object for studying the properties and behavior of faint dwarf galaxies within the cosmic neighborhood.
