Grus II
Grus II, an ultra-faint dwarf satellite galaxy, reveals around 161 probable member stars within the g < 23 mag range in DES imaging, featuring a substantial size of 93 pc. Its color-magnitude diagram displays distinctive features like the red giant branch and main-sequence turnoff, with likely blue horizontal branch members observed. Despite a small survey coverage gap, its characterization remains robust. Positioned equidistantly between the LMC and the Galactic center (46 kpc and 49 kpc, respectively) and slightly closer to the SMC at 33 kpc, Grus II is intriguingly near the Tucana group (18 kpc). While current interactions with known satellites seem unlikely, a potential past association cannot be ruled out.
