Eridanus II
Eridanus II is a dwarf galaxy located in the constellation Eridanus. Discovered in 2014, it is one of the faintest and smallest satellite galaxies orbiting the Milky Way. With an estimated distance of approximately 370,000 light-years from Earth, Eridanus II is a relatively distant galactic neighbor. It has a low luminosity, with an absolute magnitude of about -7, making it significantly dimmer than many other known dwarf galaxies. Its faintness and remote location made its detection challenging. Eridanus II's properties, such as its size, luminosity, and distance, place it among the ultra-faint dwarf galaxies, a class of small, diffuse stellar systems found in the outskirts of the Milky Way.
